Ruger 10/22 Jamming Problem
« on: January 18, 2005, 03:05:04 AM »
I got a new Ruger 10/22 for CHRISTmas and have been having problems with it jamming every third or fourth shot. It catches the empty as it ejects with the ejecter slide. I cleaned it well before I started shooting it. I am using Federal amo should I try a different brand?

Ruger 10/22 Jamming Problem

The problem you are having is not all that uncommon with new 10/22's  and they will usually break in after a couple hundred rounds and work fine.  Be sure to use a dry lubricant that wont attract and trap powder residue and dirt. These guns are easy to disassemble and work on. For some great tips and tricks check out the following link. I would definitely recommend a synthetic bolt buffer and VQ hammer swap modifications.

As was stated - not uncommon for the 10/22 -  :(
Pretty easy fix though...
Purchase a Volquartzen extractor and while at it buy the Volquarten hammer. Easy to install - your problem should be pretty well cured.
If you do purchase the hammer - only install the hammer and not the springs - leave the Ruger springs in. These two changes will make a world of difference.  :-) Buy much ammo and shoot alot.... :-D  :-D
Don't cry because its over - Smile because it happened!
