"We have cancelled this project since the demise of Virgin Valley Custom Guns.  Sorry."

Sounds like the Kevlar stocks are destined for the rare collectors market.
I wonder how many were made??  My guess is well under 1000.

I contacted Steve at the former V V C G.  He said they made around 200 Kevlar stocks during the time they offered them.  It is very doubtfull that they will ever make them again.  If you have one of these, I'd set it aside.  These may appreciate in value.

VV Forend
« Reply #3 on: January 24, 2005, 01:57:42 PM »
If anyone has a synthetic V V C G forend in either Fiberglass or Kevlar for sale, please PM me.  I have one for ML and shotgun and need one for rifle.

I'm looking for a sporter type forend, not the heavy target model.

Thanks

Even though Lone Wolf has canceled the project if every one interested in one were to e-mail Lone-Wolf they may decide that there is enough of an intrest to make them again.

Man if only I wouldn't have waited so dang long  :( .

Lone Wolf mentioned getting tons of email requests for them ALREADY and they are still not interested in doing them.  I think...THINK that is....they are not wanting to do the inletting and finishing.

NO finishing needed. I would like it inletted though. But if push came to shove I'd take it however I could get it. I've been needing an excuse to get a mill anyway. I'd pratice on wood then cross my fingers and do the kevlar stock.

Outlaw,

I have done my own stocks....wood and others.  It is a lot of work but just as much fun.  I would guess Lone Wolf would need a minimum order of blanks to make a run.  Might be worth a try to contact them and ask what it would take???  Let us know.

Finishing is easy as can be.....I even matched some of my wood forends to the Lone Wolf finish.  Several friends have had me cover their wood stocks to look like the Kevlar.

Well I sent an e-mail. Now to wait for a response.

If any of you are interested please add to this thread saying so. I mentioned in the e-mail that there a members on this forum that would be interested in these stocks.

Hopefully if we show the folks at Lone Wolf we are serious about these stocks they will reintroduce them. Even if it is in a limited run.

Thank you.

They seemed pretty firm on the "not interested" in making these stocks.  I think we need another custom outfit to show interest, like Bullberry.
Now if THEY contacted Lone wolf.......

Just as long as they get made in the USA and fit properly I don't care what color they come in or who's name is on them. Paint is cheap.

Alright fellas. I have had some communications about making the Kevlar stocks again.

I will be reporting back when I hear some prices.

Just some information for right now. The buttstocks would be inletted for the encores. They would not have a buttpad and the LOP would be a little long. Cutting the proper LOP and adding of a recoil pad is something that any gunsmith should be able to do.

The forends wouldn't be inletted. This is something that can be done with a mill however. I have a feeling that these could be sent to some one who makes forends for the Encore hanger bar system and inletted for a nominal fee.

Now I'm sure some of you might be saying that sounds like too much work. Well I for one feel it is worth it. I mean these stocks are light and extremely tough. As long as I get the stocks the inletting and what not is small potatoes.

The forend style would most probably be limited to the sporter style. But heck thats good by me also.

So once I have the details I will post the price and any other info I am given.

I would appreciate it if you guys either e-mail, PM, or respond to this thread as to what you think and how many you may want.

There is no gaurntee that there will even be a run of these made but if so I will definitely be ordering some for myself. This may be your last chance. I hope not but you never know.

I didn't give up on Boyd's about making a thumbhole for the Encore, That was a 2 year struggle. And I won't give up on getting a Kevlar stock either. Let me know how you feel and thanks.

Alright folks I heard back and here is the break down.

"kevlar buttstocks......160.00
kevlar sporter f / ends....90.00
kevlar target f / ends.....110.00
plus shipping.
as stated before these would be unfinished blanks only, all f / end inletting and f / endpillars would need to be completed by someone else as well as final sanding , fit finish, pad installation and painting. I will need an initial order of at least 10 pieces and a down payment to proceed with this job."

Well for myself I'm going to order 2 buttstocks and 4 sporter forends. That's six pieces. Someone expressed an interest in 1 sporter forend also. So All that is remaining is 3 more pieces.

Just a little background may be in order here. I found out that there was a third party who was actually making the stocks all along. I was able to contact him and after some conversation he decided to consider making them. As of right now he wishes to remain anonymous. He did state that if a lot of orders come in he would be willing to deal with the public directly.

Since I have never met any of you folks face to face this is what I'm willing to do. You let me know what you want. I will place the order without collecting any money. When the pieces come in I will contact everyone who said they wanted something and what pieces they ordered. You will get them exactly like I receive them. The initial shipping will be divided by how many pieces were sent. Then exactly what it costs to ship to whomever ordered will be added to the cost for what you ordered.

If anyone is interested shoot me a PM or preferably an e-mail.

One other thing since I'm putting up the money and then will be reinburst by whom ever orders I'm not going to take a whole lot of orders. I'm not trying to be selfish or anything I just would prefer not to lay down a bunch of money then take the chance of getting stuck with them. I hope you understand. Hopefully there will enough interest that this fella will start dealing with the public directly but just never know.

Anyway if interested let me know and we will proceed from there. I would like to make the order by 2-3-05. The reason is I'm on vacation this coming week and it will be easier for me to take care of things.

Thank you, Outlawsix...AKA Stephen Tooke.

Well I'm going to be of for a little longer than I initially thought. So will place the order on 2-8-05.

Surely someone out there must be interested in these stocks.

Any questions just ask and I'll find out an answer for you. Thanks.

Well that brings us up to 8 pieces so far.

Just remember that these are uninletted forends. Everyone will have to find someone to inlet the forends. The fella making them said that the buttstocks are inletted for the receivers. Just need the LOP cut to suit you and a recoil pad added. then painted how you want.

Hello all. As soon as I saw this forum had a thread soley for the TC, I joined. I was raised on a Contender Pistol shooting .223, .44 Mag, and .357 Herret. Now that I can afford it, I'm looking to get an Encore rifle, myself.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with some of the details regarding the Encore. Could I get some info on the kevlar stocks? I'm going to be peicing mine together, starting with a .25 WSSM for a deer/yote rifle. This way, I figured if the WSSM doesn't last, I'm only out a barrel instead of a $700 rifle. If I think these stocks will be reasonable and have an edge over factory stocks, I'll pick up a complete set.

Thanks in advance. :D

Well it has been a while. Here's an update.

The company who makes them is;

Falcon Gun Finishing
630 Martini Falls, Mt. 59912
406-892-2507
falcongun@centurytel.net

I have one factory TC heavy conture available. I had hoped that with the initial anouncement that we could have gotten a few more orders. But oh well.  This guy initially said he didn't want to deal with the public but with work I don't have the time to be the middle man.

If you're interested contact him and please keep the board updated.

Thank you.
