The .17 Rem. is the most pelt friendly factory round on the market. I have never taken a coyote with mine, but I did take a wild dog that weighted abt 120 lbs. From abt 175 yrds. 1 shot in the chest and he dropped like a wet rag. I have a .17 Rem. , a .17-223 and a .17 AH. I would recomand that you try 1 box of 28 grn. Calhoon bullets. Your gun will eather like them or it won`t, but if it does they are a great bullet. I shoot the .19 gr. Calhoons in my .17 AH and would not worry about takeing a coyote at 200 yrds. with it. The .17 Rem. with the 28 gr. Calhoons, or what ever 25 to 30 gr. bullet shoots best, should be good to at least 400 yrds.
