went to my friends pawn shop and came home with a  blue BH in 45 colt.
Its got a 7 1/2 tube ans is about 85% overall, paid $220. Cant want to shoot it. Was thinking of getting a smaller barrel, 5 1/2???.

Spending money on the gun and after that on barrel chopping...!? I would look for 45 LC Bisley, stainless steel, with 5-1/2” barrel. They are around and shouldn’t cost a fortune. As a sidearm, nothing could beat stainless steel revolver. If you scratch it, just the touch with fine sand paper will restore it to look like new. I have 2 Bisley 45 and one 41 but I will replace them all with stainless ones.

CAUTION: Bisleys are preferred for heavy recoiling calibers by custom smith because of their superb grip configuration. However before you buy Bisley, go on the range and ask somebody to try it. You might not like its grip.
