Decided on a new varmint rifle

Okay I worked some over time down at work and got a Remington Model 700 BDL in 22-250.  :-D  Man you talkin bout a pretty rifle. Anyway when I picked up the rifle I got a couple of boxes of Winchester 40 grain Supreme Ballistics Silvertips and a couple of Primos predator calls.  Eventually I will work up some handloads for it. The next morning when I got up I heard my chickens raising cane. So I went runing up there to see what was up. A pair of coyotes trying to get into the barn to get my chickens. Soon as the coyotes saw me they stopped what they were doin and watched me for a couple of seconds. They were lucky I didn't have my Colt. I was thinking to myself this is to perfect just bought a new rifle so why not try it out. Few hours latter out to my neighbors field I went (I already had his permission to hunt it but I went to his house to let him know first) no problem there. With rifle in hand I headed out and 15 to 20 min. latter the two same coyotes came to about 70 yards or so.  I am very impressed with the rifle and the 22-250 cartridge itself. And good thing is no more coyotes bothering the chickens for now.

Those 40 grainers just zip right along, I think the factory stuff does a little over 4000fps, it is like shooting a Laser, zero it at 200 yards and hold dead on from 0 to 250 any you can't miss.  I love mine, it is a 1968 Savage, I have a new custom barrel, but the factory one shoots so good I don't know why I should put it on.  Larry

Hi glad you like your new rifle i am too a 22 250 fan i have one right now in a ADL because i dont have to camo it i load a 55gr BT i used this load on coyote and used it to fill my doe tag last yr good luck hunting VM
