HOGFEST 2005

We are organizing the First Annual Hogfest 2005 during Spring Break which is March 14 – 18, 2005. Negotiations on price are in progress with several outfitters in South Texas around the area of San Antonio, Texas. The dates look like March 17th or 18th – 20 with allowances for those heading back home on Sunday the 20th.

We have several good leads and contacts that will accommodate just about any size group and cater to their every need. Meals, cleaning and cold storage will run the price up, but larger groups get discounts.

We need to know how many hunters, any special needs, ie.- blinds, diabetic meals, night hunting/lighted feeders, spot & stalk etc. Ex., My hips are bad so I will wish to night hunt from a blind. An all levergun hunt would be great but we cannot discriminate.

Let me know if you are interested in being on the e-mail list for this hunt. PLEASE E-MAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS TO BE ON THE E-MAIL LIST. I will coordinate an e-mail group list and phone numbers for those interested. I cannot answer questions on the forum but will discuss the hunt as time gets closer.

Hog hunting has become my passion. The action can fast and furious and the meat is delicious and easy to prepare. They have BIG hogs around San Antonio.

Sure you CAN, you just have to decide if you want to do so and limit those who'd not hunt with one.

If you've not checked them out yet look into the Haun Ranch. More info available at: www.captainterry.com 888-990-6460 Some of the best prices I've seen.

I'd like to stay in the loop on this but seriously doubt I'll be able to make it. Never say never but with all the other stuff I have going on this year it's unlikely.

DANG!   I wish it wasn't so far from NW Indiana to San Antonio!  Went hog huntin, in south Texas last year, and it is a blast!  Got one with my .45-70 GG.  Wanted to go back again this year, but my buddy is getting ready for his first grand child, and can't go.  To far to drive by myself.  Wonder what a ticket from Indy to San Antonio would cost?  Is Ranch Dog going?  I'll have to think about all this.......an all "cowboy"[lever action] hog hunt would be fantastic :) !

Mad Dog,

No, RD will  most likely not make this hunt (not sure).  He was going to do the coordinating, but is helping make the contacts down there for me.  He e-mailed me some info this a.m.

Consider getting to Oklahoma City and riding down with me.

The Haun Ranch is a good choice. I've hunted at Cpt. Terry's place several times and have always had a good time.

Dave,

We both frequent another board, and if you look around the forum, you'll see that the Posse did a group hunt at the Haun Ranch last summer. Great time!

Another good one is Kenny Kramer (830-329-2533). He has a place near Hondo that is loaded with BIG hogs. He'll also set up some hog doggin if you're interested.

Wish I could join you guys, but the weekends are no good for me due to work. :( Otherwise, me and my Marlin 336W would down with you guys busting up them mean nasties!

Folks,

The invite for those interested in Hogfest 2005 is now officially closed except for Beerswimmer if he sends me an e-mail.  We think we have it pretty much narrowed down to 2-3 outfitters.  I will be sending the folks on the list the choices, wait a day or two for feedback and then give dates for the deposits to be in.

Thanks to all interested parties.  I am sure we will have a great time of hunting and getting to know one another not to mention some good eats.
