moly??????

I have been using moly coating for many yrs. The lastest info out there seems to be moving away from moly. What do all you folks say?? One other thing I have been doing lately seems to work. I have taken all of my moly coated bullets and tumbled them to look like a 5 oclock shadow. They still have some benefit of moly just not as thick. I also dont notice as much copper in the bore as I did with untreated bullets. The reason I am trying new stuff now is cuz I am having a new barrel installed on my 40x. I just want to make it last as long as I can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like you would be you own best source of information if you have been using the stuff for many years.  How much barrel life did you get with the moly?

Tried it. Hated it. Decided I'd rather have copper in the barrel than Moly. Easier to get out and both build up and have to be removed. I never saw any of the benefits claimed for moly and experienced all the problems it causes. Never again will a moly bullet go down one of my barrels.

HI HH4064  I also have been using molly for 6 years.I do  loose about a 100 fps with molly bullets and it is hard to get all the molly out of the barrel,however it is great to shoot 100 or more rounds and still have great accuracy.when i clean the barrels using a mix of kroil and shooters choice the rifle cleans up fast.I do run some sweets down the barrel to check for copper and only after a few hundred rounds will i find a tinge of blue.IT is difficult to get all the molly out but i don't bother because my first shot hits point of aim point of impact. i use douglas premium air gauge barrels maybe if i used a higher grade barrel i would not need to use molly but i am very satisfied with my choice of barrels and molly

Moly doesn't make a barrel last any longer! The only thing it will do Is in a high quality barrel it will allow the shooter longer periods between cleaning the barrel, while still retaining good accuracy. I don't see this as being a problem in this sport though. I will shoot two matches with my gun in a day and have no shots off call. If you are using a benchrest quality barrel I don't believe there is a need for it. Throat erosion will wear a barrel out faster and moly can do nothing to stop that.

just like K2 said - you should have your own opinion by now, and as you can see there are as many opinions as there are shooters, being another shooter here is my opinion:
I do use molly and I love it, I can shoot around 160 ++ rounds without cleaning, and then when I am done the cleaning does not take longer than 15-20 min,molly attracts water and it attracts corrosion etc, but I do not use my gun as a canoe paddle so I am not worried about it, I keeep my guns clean and oiled at all times.  As of today I am and I will continue to use molly, I might look at different coaters like kroil? - I think-- but for now I am happy with what I have.  There is many articles about molly etc, one thing we all can agree at is that it is a lubricant and lubricants are GOOOOOOD
