I am going to be using BBT 160 cast in my 30-30AI. My question is if they give 26.0 as max grains for 2230 with cast and 30 for 170 jacketed, any idea how fast they would be going with 30 grains of 2230C. The brass is 375 winchester formed in my 30-30 seated die the full length sized in my 30-30AI die. Chamfered as well and I am going to use my M die before loading. I just need to ensure fireforming and I want to slam the rams. It will be out of a 24" bull contender barrel with muzzle brake. Dan :shock:

the 160s when I tried them in a factory barrel will take that easily. I had them around 2200fps with Varget and that was stout. You should be in the same area with the 2230. I have used it on the 30 AI out of a 24 inch barrelb it should do a little more.

What type of 30-30 AI do you have? I didn't know you could use .375 Win. brass to form 30-30 cases. I assume they're much stronger. I've read that 30-30 AI cases have a bad habit of the neck collapsing when you seat bullets in them. Has this been your experience?

I'm also interested in this cartridge and your experience with it. What doyou use it for? What ballistics to you get? What kind of rifles do you use?

I have yet to seat bullets and try this sucker out. I still have about 2 more weeks until I get the barrel from Fox Ridge. Jim Henry had mentioned using either 225 winchester brass or the 375 for a 30 Herret so I figured that I couldn't go wrong. The neck is very thick when compared to the regular 30-30. I formed them by running them through the regular 30-30 seater die with the shoulder in approximately the same place. I couldn't get the brass formed with the AI die probably because the 40 deg shoulder is too sharp. Then I full length sized it. Supposedly I can safely bump the velocities up 200-300 fps for all weights. Unless I go hunting I am going to just by shooting cast bullets at about 2000 fps or less. I got my brass off ebay for 25 bucks for 100. Dan
