Proposal for purchase of Topper Deluxe Classic
« on: January 22, 2005, 09:09:31 AM »
Here's the deal,... I wanted to get a Topper Dlx. Classic vent rib 12ga. barrel fitted to my SB2 Ultra receiver but NEF won't sell them yet 'cause they're "still filling production orders for the Topper Deluxe Classic".

Just testing the waters here. Do you think that there may be someone interested in going 50/50 on the purchase of a Topper Deluxe Classic 12ga.? I would take the vent rib barrel and the other party would take the rest. I'm thinking that the walnut stock and nickel receiver fitted with a muzzle loader barrel would be a beautiful gun.

I would be glad to purchase the gun and sell the stock and receiver or vise versa. Given the federal regs. and shipping restrictions, etc., I'm not sure if the person ending up with the receiver would have to be the purchaser or not.

I posted this on the shotgun and muzzle loader forums as well if you want to see what other's recommendations and comments were.

Thanks.

Is this too crazy to consider???   :?

What are your thoughts.

Thanks

MSP that's a good deal if anyone else is interested I'll be watching here. What I would like to do is order the 50 huntsman barrel at the same time and the person who buys the barrel would just ship the frame, stocks and ML barrel to me.Do you think NEF would do that?

:D , mrlizzard, Mamba_Drivers 12 gauge H&R Topper Deluxe Classic,  28", screw in choke (with mod tube installed), ventilated rib barrel is enroute to him as we speak. If he did not get it today he will have it by Monday. I am not quite sure of the meaning of your post. Is there another deal of this sort you might be interested in getting together on? What is the question? I'm always here to listen and open to suggestions and offers....<><....

MSP,
My question confuses me but If I make a deal can the deluxe be ordered with the muzzle loader barrel at the same time? I would take frame and muzzle loader and give up the barrel.Wouldn't everyone save on shipping and such?Plus the gun would go to the person wanting the shot barrel and they could send the ML barrel frame and stock without using ffl.

OK mrlizzard, I think I have it and there are 2 sticking points.
1) H&R as I understand it will not send out a set as you describe. They may at some time but they do not offer it now.
2) Because the frame of the TDC is a "firearm frame" it must be sold thru an FFL. Just the fact that there is a ML barrel on it does not change the status of the frame. That is the difference between a Huntsman and a Sidekick. The Huntsman is a "firearm" even if it has a ML barrel on it and must go thru an FFL (because it is capable of having a centerfire barrel, shotgun or rifle, installed). The Sidekick can only be fitted with ML barrels and is therefore not a "firearm".

Good try but it won't work out the way you described....<><.... :(
