Hey guys, ol redhead here. Hang out over on NEF centerfire and asked this question over there but this might be a better place. Came across a can of win 760 ball and need some info on it. Loading for a 223 and have found nothing except 06 data. Do any of you have any loads or links that would help or should I swap it off. Thanks olredhead

I'd swap it for a can of 748 as 760 is too slow for the tiny 223 case.

W-760 will work in the .223 Remington:

52 & 53 grain bullets:
W-760 From 26.0 grains to 28.0 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

55 grain bullets:
W-760 From 26.0 grains to 29.4 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

60 to 63 grain bullets:
W-760 From 26.5 grains to 29.0 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

68 to 70 grain bullets:
W-760 From 27.0 grains to 28.9 grains
Remington 7-1/2 Primer

RIC , those are about the same loads I use with 748!!
I'll have ti try some of them as Ihave more 760 than 748 on hand.

As you can see, W-748 is a better choice of powder, and has a wider loading range than W-760.

However, the statement was made that W-760 is not suitable for the .223 Remington cartridge. I would not use W-760 for bullets lighter than 52 grains, nor heavier than 70 grains.

Would check a good loading manual for velocities. Have seen data for .223 using WW-760 but velocities were way down. Very versatile powder, use it in several calibers, .243, 7X57, 8X57 and 30-06.
