More browning hi-power questions

When they say its single action does that mean you have to cock it before every shot? Or just the first shot. Also, how simple of a design is it? Is it easy to take apart and clean? Thanks

You only have to cock it for the first shot. It is super simple to field strip for cleaning. I shot mine Sunday. It is my favorite 9mm.

Being single-action, trigger pull is same for all shots ... and smoother than long double-action pull.  But, as noted, it must be cocked for first shot.  You either carry it without one in the chamber (and rack the slide), or carry it chambered, cocked & locked and just knock off the safety to fire. Fewer moving parts than most double-actions; fewer also than 1911 (no barrel bushing or swinging link). Disassembles into main constituent parts, for cleaning, in about 10 seconds (with no tools); reassembles in about 30.

The man that invented the 1911 decided to improve on his design, how much better can it get?    :-D
