Or an Ultra barrel?

Also, is the Ultra barrel a larger diameter?

Thanks....

bwana:

I don't think they ever offered a true Bull barrel for the 270...I may be wrong...but I don't think so...

The Ultra 23" barrel is a larger diameter barrel than the standard 22" barrel...a couple of years ago...the offered the ultra comp...which was a 24" barrel...with the last inch being a muzzle brake...making it a 23" barrel...same lenght as they have now...sans the muzzle brake...and my 30-06 Ultra comp is 0.930" dia at the barrel stud...my regular 22" 270 barrel is 0.918"...so the ultras are heavier...the muzzel dia. of the 30-06 is 0.765" the 270 is 0.675"...perhaps someone with a 270 Ultra Comp can measure theres for you...

Hope that helps...

I can't recall ANY factory gun maker offering the 270 in a bull barrel.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

I measured my .270 ultra comp and it is .740 at the very end, I am new to the forum but I have been reading the posts for the last couple of months since I traded for the .270

I measured at the barrel stud and it was .930, kind of hard to measure it there with the scope on but I beleive that is what it is, same as 30-06.

Bull barrels are .800" at the muzzle, the only bull barrel .270 that I've seen is the 24" fluted bull barrel combo offered with the .444 Marlin, it came on a camo wood stock, I've got one. I also have two Ultracomps, a .270 and a 30-06, they're kinda in between a standard barrel and a bull barrel at .760"-.770" at the muzzle.
