If you pay for all the gas, I'll go and get it.  I'm in Colorado.

Well, I am 120 miles from airport to begin with.  I am about 1000 miles from the pup. I need to figure out the cost of this kinda, to see if it will be worth it.

BamBams,

Are you bored this winter?  LOL!  If I could get the pup to Billings, I would be happy.  You must be in N Colorado near the border?

I wouldn't say "bored" exactly, but I've been promising the girls a road trip and we have some friends in NE.

If your paying for all the gas, I'll go as far as you like.  My chevrolet gets about 18 mpg.

Ok....give me details on how you would like this to work.  Pay gas from where to where...or how?  How would you want to be paid and such.

This is interesting, never done anything like this before...lol!

Okay, but I have a hunch that it would be cheaper to have the puppy flown to you.  I'm off doing the math now.

I don't know what part of Montana you live in, so I'll base it on Billings for now.

As far as payment goes, I'd need at least half up front.  You can mail me a money order or bank check.

If the cost seems feasible to you, we can discuss it further on the telephone okay?

I'll look at any option actually....if anyone has ideas.  If I could get her to Billings, I can probably get her home from there.

Okay.  Total cost to you would be $200.00 even.  From the day I depart, you'll have the little pup in your lap in 3 days.  I am basing this on only driving 8 hours per day, so it's possible I could get there quicker.  This would be a 1600 mile round trip for me, and you'd be paying 100% of the fuel only.  Meals, lodging, etc are paid for by me.

From what I can tell so far.  It would cost you about the same to fly her there because you'd have to purchase an airline crate from the breeder, etc.  One thing I don't like about flying a dog is that you cannot insure them - at least that's the way it used to be.

By the way, I'm an AKC certified companion dog evaluator, so the pup will definitely not be traumatized beyond that of a normal drive.  I'll also have two teenage daughters to help keep an eye on her while we are making the trip.

In addition, your puppy would be spoiled in the back of an extended bed Chevy Pickup that is fully carpeted, heated, lighted, stereo, color television, etc.  Nothing but first class treatment all the way for the little guy.  Please arrange for the breeder to provide about 9 cups of whatever puppy food they have been using.

Ha...I trust the fact that you have 2 teenage daughters watching her more than your certification.....lol!

I'm still 500 mile from Billings and I would need to work that out.  This whole thing might just being too costly and I will have to abort.

Let me shoot this around abit.  I still have to talk to the folks I am getting her from, they were trying to work something out too.  They live 'nowhere' and I live in 'nowhere' as well.  Sometimes that makes things difficult.[/quote]

If it was summer, I'd do it on my unicycle and juggle cans of puppy food at the same time.  *laughing*

Do that be due to gas mileage, ask Dali Llama?

Opus....do you have any pictures of this poor little pup that needs a ride?  It could be a real motivator ya know?  Someone might see his sad face and chime in here with another offer of assistance?

No but I do have a picture of what she will look like in about a year.  :)
http://2005photos.milneweb.com/jan/dogs.JPG.html

The Black dog, she is going to be breeding stock for me.  Strictly cowdog material.

I certainly am not complaining or asking for it to be done for nothing.  I just have to keep it within a certain budget, unfortunately.  I cant have transporting cost more than the price of the pup.

The money I have saved so far seeing I haven't dont much snowmobiling, is helping me.  After all, its like spring up here these past few weeks.

Can you transport an animal on The Big Gray Dog. Might be cheaper for you to take the bus and go get her if you can and bring her back on one. Also how about a twenty to thirty dollars a day economy rent-a-car? :D

I've never seen the big Grey Dog in these parts.  Rent a car, no such thing as a $30 car here, that I have seen.  If I knew someone that had a little car, we might just go get her ourselves.

Actually now, the CEO we caretake for has a jet.........  lol!

Keep the ideas coming, I am sure one of them will work for me.

Well, to me, she's a cute little mutt!  The humane society said:

Border Collie X Bull Mastiff X Rottweiler

The vet says,:

Bernese Mountain Dog X Rottweiler maybe?

Who knows?

She's really smart and very protective though.  I'm thinking the humane society is probably correct.
