Help with Pistol Grip!
« on: January 28, 2005, 06:35:22 AM »
A good friend of mine ordered a barrel, forend and pistol grip from VVCG before their troubles.  The folks at VVCG did everything they could to fill the order and refunded the prepaid portion for the unfinished work.  The thing that was left unfinished was the shaping of the pistol grip.  The grip blank has been inlet (for an Encore) but that is it.  He really needs someone who can finish this pistol grip - does anyone know of a competent person who would take on this job?  Photo of the blank is below.

Jim,
I'm sure someone like Georgia Jim would be able to complete this task. My only question would be one of economic feasability. Unless this happens to be a chunk of exhibition grade walnut (doesn't look like it), It would probably be better to either sell it to a do-it-yourselfer, then buy another grip; or get himself a few rasps, and whittle out his own version of a custom grip.
Having someone else do the work would probably put it tn the costs-more-than-it's-worth range. JMHO.

My thinking was that someone with a duplicating machine could use a standard factory grip as a model and rough in the shape.  Any ideas?
