LOP for Encore stock
« on: January 30, 2005, 02:05:09 PM »
I have an Encore with a 209 x 50 barrel. I'm thinking about putting a
lefthanded thumbhole stock on it. The LOP on a factory stock is longer than most bolt action rifles why? How do I measure for my correct LOP?
The stock I'm looking at is from Gunstocks Inc. does anyone have
experience/advice about this company and their stocks?

Thanks
Ron

I just finished a right hand stock. A buddy of mine just got a left hand. I will post a pic of the finished product tomorrow. These are very good folks to deal with. I am going to buy again from them. I went with a 15" LOP and it fits me great but yours might be different.

Yes the LOP on the Encore is longer than most, 14 3/4 if I remember correctly.  I like it that way, it fits me well.

Gunstocks Inc is a good company.  I bought a stock for my Contender there that was sized like an Encore but inletted for a Contender.  Quality is very good.  Mine came with a 16"+ LOP and had to be cut off to the LOP I wanted.  I think they cut it for you if you want them to.

If you have a gun that fits you measure from the trigger to the end of the buttstock including the pad, the standard LOP for an average shooter is 14 1/2".
I have purchased several stocks from Gunstocks Inc. and was very pleased with the quality of work as well as the quick delivery, they will cut the stock to length and install a recoil pad at a very resonable price.
