ACTION LENGTH ??????

How do you measure action length?  From what point to what point do you measure?  Where can I get information on what action length is needed for a specific caliber?  Thank you.

Razmaz :  The usual rule of thumb is 308 win length 2.800 max. are in the short action catagory, longer are long action, however I am sure you can find the short action calibers in a long action the savage 110 is a rifle in long action only no matter what caliber. also the old pre 64 win 70 all came in long action, but thats about all I have on it. :D    JIM
