Stick with it GB, you have had a good plan from the beginning. It has kept the riff raff away (for the most part) and has brought this forum to the top of the heap!!! Keep your high standards for conduct and for the way others here are treated and do not lower your standards, for that small slide downward is the first part of a precipitous decline to hell. I was always told "A winner never quits and a quitter never wins". Keep up the good fight, it may feel as if you are tilting at windmills sometimes but you will prevail, there are many here to back you and to help. We appreciate you and your efforts to keep this a good, wholesome, christian place for all. I for one, salute you and pray for your health as well as your wisdom in this matter. Ask (for guidance) and you shall receive....<><....

I don't mind politics and religion being discussed so long as it is in an enlightened, non cursing manner...
  Or choice of pastimes...
That generally be what Dali Llama propose, but Graybeard apparently do not want any disagreement.

Heck, this is only my third post here and I am already on " the list" ( which I see has gone from eight names to seven). I won't comment on what I think of being put on "the list", because that would only get me banned.

:) At this point I think I'd agree commenting on it wouldn't be best. Your comments have most likely already been thru my head.    Expect the list to get shorter still. Your name might be next off it. If in your initial post to me on it hadn't contained the comment I high lighted your name would already be off it.

It's not my intention to worry about what happened elsewhere, only what happened here. So far I've seen no reason to worry about you in that regard here. Even the minor thing pointed out was I suppose hardly reason enough since you were only pointing out it wasn't you I PMed.

As I further evaluate which of those named have done something to warrant being there while at GBO or haven't more names will likely be removed. Had I been making the list on my own without additional input it would have had three names for sure. Maybe four. It still might be there as I continue to evaluate why each name got there.

I really, truly doubt that you know how I feel about being included on "the list", but explaining would get me banned, so I won't even try. I would also like you to keep my name right where it is, as a reminder to myself to not do what ain't worth doin'. :D

Bill took the time, energy and money to create this site so he can say what happens, whats allowed, who goes and who stayed. also you complain about pornography.  what porn? i have never seen any on this site or even seen some one try and post it in the 2 years i've been here. this the cleanest board i've seen yet, and its a refreshing change.

Sadly, for some it seems so. You are now trying to joust verbally with me. Trust me that's one slippery slope you really don't wanna start down.

I could care less how much folks disagree, argue, fuss. BUT the line is drawn at fighting and making personal attacks or name calling. The rules are clear. If you wish to see the full set Matt now has them posted down in the help and announcements section.

Anyone who cannot or will not live within them really doesn't belong here. And for sure is not wanted here. Thousands of folks find them not only not a burden but a blessing.

Are you one of them?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont see this as ending debates. If someone states something, that you dont believe or feel is incorrect, it is still ok to question this...as long as it is not disrespectful and not done with snide little comments? As long as you can get your point across with out getting the little jab to go alone with it.

EXACTLY!  Why do people make this so much harder than it is.  If I've said it once, I've said it 1000 times so far:

Argue the topic ALL YOU WANT, but don't get personal about the other members on the thread.  Don't attack or criticize the person, their character, their style, etc. The thread is about the SUBJECT.  Just read the title.

This isn't rocket science folks!

Excellent advice. I have no clue why this seems so hard for some to grasp.

No one but Dali would assume it a personal attack. The rest would just agree that what was said was true. Your chosen method of communication is carefully chosen to do just what he said. Your business of course and I really don't care. But since you chose it don't complain if folks misunderstand from time to time.

But the latter point is well taken.

I think, just me think, that what I have seen is a little cabin fever that was burned off in inappropriate ways. If the boys will keep their heads planted firmly in the present things will square and the fever will burn off.
If a responder expects to change a position of another that is just not good thinking. Say what you have to say without saying it too somebody. Keep your thoughts just your thoughts.
Now, I have changed my stance more than once around here but it was not from a baiting or personal attack, it was because Bams or someone else like FW said something I thought was appropriate, thought about it and liked the stance better than mine.---Not often though, I fear I am a bit too hardheaded, at times.
Keep at it GB, it will clear up shore as a muddy creek after a rain.
Blessings

I think the cold snap and bad weather has gotten some folks a little on edge lately.  My personal opinion is that life is way too short to take this stuff too seriously.  Face it sometimes other folks can rub us the wrong way, it even happens in our own families.

I suggest that we burry the hatchet right here and now.   I also suggest that we make a pact with one another to try our best not to personally attack another member.  As has been suggested many times keep to the subject matter of the post. That alone would help to avoid a lot of personal conflict.  Let's stop the play ground anticks for Pete's sake: 'He pushed me first!  He called me a name! If you won't grow up at least grow a thicker skin already. Remember it takes two to tango. Also, why do we have moderators if we are going to argue with their calls?  If a moderator has to step in and say "enough already" then be a sport and just shut up.

Sorry if I have offended anyone, but I have been watching this thread go on and on for several days and thinking GB doesn't need to be loosing sleep over this kind of childish BS.  In closing I would just like to say this Forum is awesome.  Nowhere else have I witnessed such a large gathering of knowledgable and usually caring and helpful people. Can we expect to always get along with everyone here?  This is a public forum not heaven guys.  But strife breeds strife so let's try our best to abide by the golden rule and if a moderator does have  to step in from time to time just accept it and move on for the good of the entire GBO family. Thanks for letting me speak my piece.

One option would be to allow each user to moderate there own topic, the MOD can be found here:

http://www.phpbb2.de/dload.php?action=file&file_id=398

or go with the "Ban MOD", which could be found here:

Just my .02 cents....

Those "ignore" buttons can be right handy, if you're tired of reading the contributions of folks you don't agree with.  Liberal use of the "ignore" button by several folks would probably cut down on GB's aspirin bill (sorry I used the l-word).  Taking a breather away from the Pot Bellied Stove, and hashing out other controversies on the many other forums here on GBO might be a welcome change for some.

Or just avoid conflict, and start a thread that will generate lots of agreement, like "9mm beats 45 ACP for defense" or "High velocity, frangible hunting bullets rule!"  Then, just sit back and read the love on the boards. :-D  :-D  :-D

I agree with the folks that link this sort of flare up to cabin fever, but it would be a pity to let it go unchecked, or spread to other forums on this site.  Shooters.com was like that, and it was often an unpleasant place to go and ask for help or information.  Too many games of "gotcha", and the whole thing slowly self destructed.

GBO is one of the friendliest sites on the net, firearm related or not, and the vast majority of GBO seems to be without conflict.  There's probably plenty of theories about the source of this flare up, but that "ignore" button is still the cure-all.
