how to swap trigger?
« on: January 31, 2005, 08:06:03 AM »
I have two T/C frames. One handgun and one carbine. ( By law). I'd like to swap the triggertrains between the two frames so that the better (much lighter/crisper) trigger is in the handgun frame. ( i will then sell the carbine). I'm pretty good with mechanical things and have been inside more thna a few revolvers and semi's without problems but am green with a T/C frame. . I'm looking for a tutorial on how to get started with tirgger replacement or 'tuning".
Any help appreciated.

I only know that on the old contenders ...  Grip, forend and bbl off ... after unscrewing the screw thru the rear of the guard (has a compression spring on it, that the tang bears against) you simply push the trigger guard pivot pin out ... and the trigger group is in yer hand. Again I know nothing of the G2 type but for old models swapping trigger  groups did not seem to create any problems.    For new models .... Someone else will have to chime in... Marty

Never messed with the triggers one the Contenders, but just did trigger jobs on 2 Encore frames. I got 2 trigger srpings, Mike Bellem springs, $8.50 ea at a gun show. The one I got were suposed to be 1 1/2 lbs., but on his web sight he say that the springs can vary yp to 1 1/4 lbs. in different frames. To change these you can go to his web page and get directions, BUT, DO NOT  remove the third pin, the one that drops out the hammer, the spring goes over the second pin. One of my frames now has about 6 oz. of trigger pull and the other about 10 oz., so much for the 1 1/2 lb., but that`s ok because I like lite triggers.
