Barrel problem, need help.

I picked up a 22 Hornet barrel for my G2. It is an older octagon style. When it is installed the hammer will not cock. The hammer works fine with my other 3 barrels.

I had a reply all down until I saw it was a G2 frame you were having trouble with.

Is the hammer locking back at all or is it stuck in the down position?

The hammer is not locked. It will move back a little but not all the way to cocked.

Havent had a chance to inspect a G2 but I'm thinking that they are a bit similar to the Encore. The full lock release is on the RH side of the frame inside, if the locking lugs arent fully engaging it won't push it back enough. Use a elmarko on the lugs and close the action to see how far they are engaging. Should be about half way. If not that may be the problem. As I said I am not positive on this but if it's similar to a encore internaly that could be the problem. Just something to check.
