I use a lee loader to reload 223 brass. It doesn't matter how hot I reload the brass I always have to trim it again before reloading. Even if I load it to the minimum listed in the manual I again have to trim it. Is this normal? I don't seem to have to trim other cartridges very often (even when loaded hot).

That's pretty much what I have been experiencing. I load all different sorts of .223/5.56 brass with both small base and full length sizing dies. These are fired both out of Contender barrels and in an AR15. Haven't been neck sizing any of these.

I trim them back to minimum and they seem to almost always require trimming after firing.

I`ll have to start measureing some .223 brass I guess, I have never trimed any brass for that cal. yet. I must say though, that I really don`t shoot it much, but that seem strange to me.

I have found that if I trim to reloading manual spec. ( 1.750) that I have to trim the cases alot more. I was told by a very experenced reloader to trim to (1.740) or ten thousands under what was in the reloading manual. I now have to trim,after about three loadings. It really saves alot of work. Using the Lee collet die I have not have to trim my Norma cases at all. I shoot a Contender.

Neck Size

Those cases will stretch less and your accuracy will increase.

I agree. Collet dies are what I use too. I had Hornet cases last two years with minimum trimming involved. That's was about 30 reloads. My TCU's don't need trimmed very often either. (Collet dies + 223 cases).
