s&w 460 brass in a 410 contender?
« on: February 01, 2005, 06:18:33 AM »
Does anyone know if the new 460 brass will fit in a 410 contender chamber.
45 LC out of a .410 are inaccurate due to the chamber length.

Maybe using 460 brass and loading to 45 Long Colt velocities will actually make the difference in accuracy.

I really think you would be playing with fire there. Just as the 454 Casull, if you load it to light you will cause pressure problems. The 45LC/410 chamber is made for  "JUST" that 45L/C and 410. So I would advise you not to do it.  :D

Agree with above.  The 460 is hovering around 55000 psi according to what I have read.  Even with really reduced loades, you would be taking the chance of wildly fluctuating pressures that contenders aren't made to handle.
