H&R estimates are they realistic?
« on: February 01, 2005, 02:09:20 PM »
I recently sent my Ultra 243 in for repair (to see if they can get it to shoot 100 grain bullets) and to order a 308 bull barrel. It took them from Wednesday to Monday to figure out that they had my gun. I asked CS when I could expect to see my gun again and was told it would take 5 weeks including the new barrel. Does this sound realistic?? I mean it only took 6 days just to find the thing :-) . They also said that the 243 will probably be returned as a ejector system and the 308 as an extractor system, does that sound right?
When H&R returns your gun do they let you know and give you a tracking number or does it just show up on your door step?
One last question, I asked if they bought the barrels riffled, and was told that they did the riffling in house, is that right?
 Thanks

H&R estimates are they realistic?

My first 2 barrels took 9 weeks to receive from the time I sent the frame to em, but the longer wait was due to the 25-06 barrel being out of stock. I received my rifle w/ 2 barrels exactly 7 days after they charged my credit card, so they ship when they bill. I asked that they send me tracking info, never got it that time. The next barrel I ordered took 7 weeks total,  I again asked for tracking, they emailed me the tracking number a day before I received the barrel, better late than never! I  never got a confirmation of receipt for either order, so I recommend UPS shipping or add delivery confirmation to a USPS shipment.

All new barrels will eventually have extractors, just depends on how long the old ejector supply lasts. This has been confirmed by Mac, IIRC.
