how do you find out what you have???
« on: February 02, 2005, 12:35:31 PM »
I just [as in about 30 minutes ago 8) ] bought a S&W handgun.  My first.  Problem is I dont know what I got.
It is a double action 38 cal.
Marked on the side is cal 38 special
It has a 2 1/2 barrel and the cyl rod that sticks out under the barrel is not shrouded [ not sure of the correct terms.]
on one side of the barrel itself it is marked  ESSO
The other side is marked 38s I think
It has some BUTT ugly plastic grips that are supposed to be bone looking
serial number is 873670
made in usa
The hammer has the firing pin made onto it

What ya think???

I am now told that this is a Model 10 K frame.  After researching some pics on teh net, I do believe it is so. .  New grips will soon be on the way.  Any input on the Model 10??

I would give S&W a call and with the serial number they can tell you when it was made also.  :D
