Time To Re-write The Bible.......again!

Well, I just caught up with this thread and voted on the poll. I guess I need to check this forum out one in a while. It is a great idea and I'm in. I'll PM a couple of other guys about it and see if they are interested as well.
I have a couple of questions as well. Is the plan to run just one study at a time like the purpose driven life (a good study btw), or are you going to do several studies concurrently? I think perhaps a study of John or Romans would be helpful at the beginning, since they seem to be very good at "covering the basics" for anyone who may be joining in that is still young in their faith. Just my  :money:

The bible was penned by about 40 different writers over a period of about 5000 years. Geographically speaking, many lived quite a bit apart from one another - coming from different cultures and religious practices.  The amazing thing is that all these men agreed 100% on God's plan for the redemption and reconciliation of man back to God.

The more one researches the origins of the bible, the more one realizes that it's very existence is a miracle in itself.

So who wrote the bible?  Men penned it, but the spirit of God authored it. There is simply no other way it could have come to be.  It is the most precious possession that modern humanity possesses.

Christ was quoted as saying:  "These words are spirit and they are life..."

   Can't say if a separate forum is needed...but will agree that it will be difficult staying on topic; I have very little doubt that we will go off onto "rabbit trails "....

   But then..rabbit trails can be quite interesting..

Thanks for setting the POLL up GB.  I had originally wanted to post the POLL in this forum but the system would not give me that option.  Then GB said that he would prefer it in the "Start New Forum" forum but I just had not gotten to it.

Hi Flatlander, good to hear from another brother.  I think a studies of the books of John & Romans is a great idea.  I was informed if it is your idea you own it.  :eek:    Don't think I would have time to participate if we do them concurrently. Besides  doing the Purpose Driven Life study the GB site I have to read and study for my regular Sunday School class and I am also reading and studying Rick Warren's other book A Purpose Driven Church for a Sunday Evening study group at my church.

A PERSONAL REQUEST>>>

   I hope I'm not out of line..but I don't want to go too big with this request.

   I like this  group that are on this string...

   I need your prayers;
   
   I will be going for surgery on Monday morning, 11 AM est.. on 2/14/05.

      I have a small lump (about 00 buck size) on the right side of my neck.

  Surgeon has already told me it is cancer. He couldn't make it a simple office removal because it is on my kerated (sp) artery, with a "root"...so it's off to a surgical center..

  Please pray that the simple surgery gets it....to go into extensive treatment ( for me ) would take some thought and prayer before I would go for it...if at all..

      I have lived now "threescore and eight " years...quite close to the " threescore and ten ", so I am ready to meet our Lord at any time ...if such transpires.

    My biggest burden would be for those I leave behind...Wife, children...grandchildren..

 Where this little lump came from, I can't guess...there is no cancer history in my direct family in the last 3-4 generations..

  Most of my life, I worked in outdoor, high level construction..snow and cold ..and much direct sun...
  In later years I worked at hi-tech electronics...

   chemicals involved in both construction and hi-tech...

  You stick your hand into a circular saw...never know just which tooth got you !...LOL

    Lord willing; this may just be a small, one-time thing; if it goes the other way, I am not sure I would seek much treatment...it would not be a good thing for my grandkids to see Gramps waste away to an old, dry corn husk ...

   In any case , thanks brothers for your prayers...
