AK Hunt and Fish License increase II
« on: February 02, 2005, 08:05:45 PM »
I thought I'd repost this notice and include the online links for more info.

I got a call from a friend in the State asking what I thought of the plan, if I was aware of it and if I had commented. (I have commented.)

But the legislature is now in session and I think there is special interest in hearing from the users.  So get your comments in. I think there is a strong desire among many of those in power to see major resource development, like mines, oil, gas, timber etc. The Dept of Fish and Game seems to be getting put in the back seat (funding wise) by the current administration, and compared to many previous administrations.

So regardless of how you feel about these proposals, I encourage Alaskans to speak up and to attend their local Fish and Game advisory committee meetings if at all possible.

And contact the governor or your legislator as well at:

I could'nt find dates for when these said increases will be implemented for TAGS.

For example, will this years fall moose tag (nonres) cost me $400 or $500?

I allready have my '05 hunting licence, but have yet to purchase my moose tag.

Like I said these rate changes are proposed and not final.  I believe the Legislature has to give the ok for the changes.  In the mean time now is the time for folks to speak up and give their opinions. This will give the administration and legislature more to go on, and to provide discussion points.

Our legislature has a 120 day rule.  They are supposed to complete their business by early May.  Most stuff gets talked about, kicked around but rarely finalized until the last 20 days when compromises and horse trades are worked out in a last minute scramble.

I suspect these increases, if adopted by the legislature and governor, would go into effect in Jan 2006 - I THINK.  Eyesore, your question would be a good one to post on the ADFG question comment site.

HTH -  realize my comments are my best guess, I may try to call ADFG Monday to find out.
