325 PD Moon Clips
« on: February 03, 2005, 05:57:59 AM »
:cb2: I am thinking about getting a 325 PD, and I was just wondering how hard is it to get cartridges in and out of these things?

I know that someone makes a tool for this, but is it necessary?

:cb2: Sorry, I read my message and saw that I was about as clear as mud. I am referring to the moon clips.

And, should I get the full moon, or are the half moons better?

Go with the full moon clips. You can get a de-mooner and it works like a champ. Half moons are a pain in my opinion.  :D

:cb2: Please excuse my ignorance. I know I'd get the de-mooner, if for nothing less than to save time at the range, but can the job be done by hand without one, or that just too much trouble?

Sure it can be done by hand. Put you won't do it long. You fingers will hurt and you will bust your knuckles and cuss like a sailor. Do yourself a favor and get the de-mooner and they also have a tool to put the rounds on the moon clips. What I use to do is load all my moon clips at home and then go to the range and shoot. When I got home I would use my de-mooner and put the brass into the tumbler. But by all means try it by hand first.  :D  :-D  Let me know how you do.

I had a 925, and loved the gun. BUT hated the clips. I got blisters on my fingers, and I used a small nut driver that fit into the case, and I would hold the clip. Sold the gun eventually. You can shoot 45 auto rimmed in it though.

:cb2: Thanks Redhawk. So I will need a de-mooner and a mooner. Sounds kinda kinky. I guess I can get these through Midway?

Also look at Dillon Precision. Get the super de-mooner, it is made of aluminium and is a lot stronger then the hard plastic one.  :D

:cb2: Thanks! I need to order something from them anyway so I can get their catalog for two or three months. Man, I never see shooting buddies like that when I go to the range. Whoa!

If a RIMZ 625 or RIMZ 25 would fit it, that's the direction I would go.  I'm using RIMZ 625's in my 625-4 and wouldn't think of going back to metal half moons or full moons!

I can take a box of shells and 1 RIMZ and shoot the whole box without sore fingers.

:cb2: So I take it that the RIMZ products do not require a tool?
