Loading TCU rounds
« on: February 03, 2005, 07:31:10 AM »
I just ran 100 rounds of new brass thru the sizer for 7mm TCU and loaded some of them up.  I noted a fair amount of run out on about 3-4 rounds out of every 10, all the rounds chambered fine I'm just wondering about when I fire these, will that bring the brass back to straight?  I plan on indexing these as I shoot them.  Thanks for the help

Crash - I have noticed the same thing when forming the 6.5 and 7 TCU. After fire-forming, would probably be a good idea to square up the case mouths and check for overall length. Then, you should be ready to go --- ENJOY !

Excessive runout (.005+) is common when changing the dimensions of the case. If you are having problems after forming to the chamber dimensions then I'd worry about it.

For 7tcu, I load 8.0 grs unique and RCBS 145 silhouette bullet.  This is my fireform and standing load for silhouette.  After the brass is fireformed, it is all full length sized and then trimmed to same length.  It is then ready for target and hunting loading.  This is best method I have found.  Have about 1500 cases in use between a number of guns and no problems.

Good Luck,

I have run into similar problems with my 7mmtcu barrels.  I have a blue 14" that shoots just about anything and shoots extremely well.  It is the most accurate barrel I own.  I have an Armour Alloy that is pretty selective about what it likes.  I learned early on that the brass from the two must be kept seperated.   The blue has a much tighter chamber.  If I use brass fired in the Armour Alloy, it only goes into the blue chamber about 3/4 of the way.  I can't even use brass from the blue barrel in the Armour Alloy, it goes in too far and I only got 3 of 20 rounds to fire.  ( I was able to fire most of these in the blue barrel.). I also have another Armour Alloy 7mmtcu that I sent to JDJ and had them make a 7x30.  That is my primary hunting barrel now and is is very accurate.
