Ruger Blackhawk .357 mag/9mmP
« on: February 04, 2005, 10:01:46 AM »
I've just seen a used single action revolver RBH in 357mag with extra cylinder in 9mmP.

The gun is used (mostly the 357 mag cylinder.  The 9mmP cylinder does not show signs of been fired that much but the 357 feels that has seen most of the wear.  The price at the gun shop is $359.  Is this a reasonable price or it is too high.  I would say the revolver is at a 90% look.

I would say that is high unless you really want or need the 9mm cylinder. You can often get a .357 Blackhawk without the 9mm cylinder for well under $300.00.

By the way, I have one and I have probably only shot 100-200 rounds of 9mm. It works fine but I found I preferred to shoot my reloaded .357's out of it.

Sounds a little high unless they're not common in your area.  I just bought an unfired (used) 357/9mm Convertible two months ago for $350 out the door.

Yeah that high.   Unless you really need it I'd pass, there's plenty of them out there.

I agree, a good used BH can be found for alot less than that. I found a like new BH in 357 about 4months ago for $265!!. Just do your homework and shop around. When shops get a# of used BH in stock you can dicker more. I try to hit the local pawn shops, they seem to have the best deals.

Thank you for the advice.  I am not in need of one;but it's one of those things that I feel when I visit my local shop to see what's new there.
I will keep an eye for a good one thoguh.  Thanks.

I just came back from a gun show sunday. The man at the table next to mine had one for 295.00 in good shape. There was another vender that had one for 300.00 like new. I think you might look around and beat that price. Good luck..........Joe............

I have the 357/9mm convertible.  Used the 9mm a few times when I first got it but shoot the 357 regularly, mostly with 141gr wad cutters as a light target load or 158SWC for everything else.

If you are interested I'd sell the 9mm cylinder, just never use it.

When I purchased it I had loads of 9mm brass, dies etc. and no gun for them.  But later on got a used Taurus 92 with 4 large capacity mags and it shoots pretty well.  Actually I'm more of a revolver shooter but bring out the pistols on occasion.  I have one of the Buckeye Rugers in 38-40 & 10mm and I shoot both cylinders in that one quite a bit.

One good thing about the extra cylinder

The extra cylinder gives you a prefit home for a wildcat, such as the 356GNR, 9x23, etc., at a much lower cost than having a new one fit.

I posted earlier that I had p/u a BH with 3 extra cylinders for $412.  It had stag grips, 357, 9mm, and 38 super cylinder.  The blueing was flawless with the backstrap, triggerguard and spring housing being beaded aluminum.  I was told this was a Davidson's special edition, but still cant confirm or get any more information on it.  I just really liked the way it looked.  If anyone has any information, it would be appreciated.

pharmuse, I don't ever recall Ruger making such a model even as a specil ed.   I'd suggest you call Ruger.  With the serial number they can give you the specs on exactly how and when it was shipped.  I'm doubting it's factory. 1. They'll only make what they can from existing parts.  They don't have any beaded aluminum parts.  @.  I don't believe they've ever chambered anything for the .38 super cartridge.  Like I said, give Ruger a call.
