Makes me wonder which would be harder on unprotected ears (not that I would condone that) the 2 1/2" 454 casull stoked with a max load of H110 or a 338-378 WBY with one of those JP-brakes on it.  Either way I bet they could both give Homer Formby a run for his money... ;>)

After careful study, I decided not to port my SRH.

My new 44 mag SRH is at the smith, getting the following done:

Barrel cut to 5 inches.

S&W Front Tritium Sight installed.

Trigger / action job, de-horn an de-burr all the edges.

Cylinder chamfered (sp) to help with speedloaders.

Ruger Alaskan Hogue Grips (would have bought one, just too short)

Bead Blasted the stainless steel, remove the friggin billboard on the barrel.

That's abut it.

Please post a pic when you get it back.  I am thinking of doing the same with mine.  Who is doing the work?

Chris Vursels, Gunsmith at H&H Indoor Range in Okla. City, OK - he's had it a couple of weeks, and he just finished messing with 4 other firearms of mine, so I'm not pushing him - the bill gets higher if a gunsmith is rushed!  I'm checking with www.kytac.com to see if a good kydex holster can be made, or with Mernicle for a tight, concealed carry / hunting holster.

I've read good things about Mernickle's leatherwork. I'm also in the market for a holster. I'll probably be getting the SH7 chest holster from Mernickle. I think it would be perfect for hiking/fishing/hunting. I'd still like to have a good strong side holster though...Please post some pics when you get your SRH back!

WOW, Is right. That has to be one bad boy to shoot, I can' imagine the Muzzle blast this bad boy would have with full blown 454 loads. My six inch 454 freedom arms makes enough noise, But a two inch ported barrel
would be pure murder on the ears. Even a 45lC would be hard on the ears.
In spite of all that i'm going to have one, The juices are flowing like the mighty Mississippi river..........Joe.............. :toast:

Mernicle took care of me last Christmas - bought my little girl a Ruger Bearcat - her birthday is the 20th so getting birthday mixed with Christmas is easy to do - told Mernicle that I needed the hoster and they were about 8 weeks behind on shipping orders . . .  a very nice lady understood my delima and sent the holster in time for her birthday / Christmas - she got the holster for Christmas.

When we went to the range to shoot, the gunsmiths, guys that don't get excited about much kept coming onto the range to get the little holster to show everyone.

Very tight, concealed carry high riding holster - worked it at least 100 times - cannot cock the hammer while holstered - the cylinder will not turn.

Perfect.
