I`m gonna buy a new S&W 1911; but can`t make my mind up on fixed or adj sights. my question is. If I don`t like the adj sight Is it as easy as just undoing the rear sight and putting on a new low mount novac sight.; or do you have to change out the front sight?

leadlum,
The slide on a S&W 1911 with adjustable sights has a different machine cut than the fixed sight model. although the dovetail is probably the same the adjustable sight slide cut is further foward to accommodate the longer sight body.  The rear of the adjustable sight slide is also cut out for the rear of the sight.  The fixed sight slide does not have this cut.
Also, the front sight of the adjustable sight slide uses a higher front sight.
Best,
TnNuc

Went out this morning and purchased the fixed sight model. Now I have to wait the 10 days. I`ll give a range report after I shoot it. Figured the fixed sight model will be better for carry. It will be my defense gun.
