browning sweet 16

my son has inheireted a primo 16 ga browining auto. gun looks good but wont eject and load next round after fireing. chamber was clean but action was dry and unoiled. what is the major cause of malfunction in these guns?they are a proven design i know but im not all that familiar with them. we cleaned it well and lightly oiled it but havent shot it since.anything else we need to do?

I seem to remember this 'friction ring' as being a 'cup shaped' affair that can be used in different positions depending on the pressures generated by the shells being used.  It makes a difference whether you are using light, medium, or heavy loads.  One position will protect the gun from high pressure loads, another position will allow the gun to function with light loads.  I might have some instructions for this.  I will look.

I won a sweet sixteen in 1968 at a Young Farmers meeting.  The gun has an adjust ring as mentioned earlier.  Adjust this in the middle and leave it alone.  My gun will do the same thing if not throughly cleaned and a good coat of break free.  The browning is a good shooter but does not like to be dry or dirty.

I have always wanted an a-5 in 12 gauge.  I understand that when you put the ring in the middle you can shoot the 2 and 3' with out changing every time you switch?
