Self Pity - My Next NRA Pistol Class......

I got a call last night to help teach 3 women to shoot a pistol on Wednesday so they can get their concealed carry permits.

I was then informed that two of them are lesbians who are locally famous now for suing the city for health benefits as a married couple.  They've received numerous death threats, etc.  Evidently, they were both on the news channels the other night and the ACLU is backing them all the way.

Normally, this is no big deal to me because I'm used to teaching very large groups, and we stay way too busy to get personal with eachother.  In this case however, these gals/guys/whatever are paying the big bucks for an exclusive "one on one" type of class. My partner says one of the gals is straight - maybe if I put more energy there???

I simply said to my training partner, "Well this ain't about being gay, this is about shooting.  I'm simply not going to discuss "gay issues" at the range with them.  In fact, I'm hoping to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.  

He replied, well good luck, cuz these women are ALL ABOUT how gay they are.

Good grief!

I'm sticking to my plan - no personal discussions.  No sex life crap.  No nothing - just teach the fundamentals.

Very good self advice! You might still keep both eyes wide open acting in a professional & curteous manner.
These gal's are probably on the prod now that they have some backing. They might try & twist your words to come up with a sexual harrasment suit on something as simple as.....(Yes, I like your outfit but don't really care for your scarf)

You might think I am over reacting but I felt a cold hand based on your info. :D

I wish I had the freedom to "not do it," but I don't allow it to myself.  I am compelled, for moral reasons, the help "any human being" who sincerely desires to defend themselves or others from violence or crime.

I think I would wait and see if they brought up the subject and if they did I would Politely tell them,"I am here to teach you self defense not sexual preference so let's just drop the subject now." :D

Yup Dwarren.  That's the way it's gonna be.  Thanks to all for their perspective.  I'm just not gonna go there no matter if they push it or not.  I'll be professional (always am anyway).  I really don't know why I let this rattle my brain anyway.  I guess it's because I don't want to offend anybody even though I already find certain things offensive myself.

This might also be a opportunity to get some gals(?) who are vocal to be on our side on the gun rights issue.  We need all the friends we can get when it comes to gun rights.  Sometimes politics makes for strange bedfellows.
