The New Frontiers have the firing pin held in place with a pin through the side of the hammer. This was most likely Colt's style through out the century.

this is for a 3rd generation made in the mid 1990's.  the pin broke while shooting so I ordered a new retaining pin from brownells but it just slips in with no resistence.

Does one end of the pin have a slight head on it?  Slip it in and gently peen the other end until it won't fall out.  The fireing pin must fit loose so that it can find its own center while entering the frame.

You can put a slight arc in the pin and that will make it fit tight when you push it it.
