Another new guy here
« on: February 05, 2005, 05:19:01 PM »
Hey, I just found this site this evening and have been browsing for a while.

I have a 25-06 Ultra rifle that I plan to send in for a .223 barrel in a month or so. I have seen here that you can have a trigger job done at the same time, but have been unable to find any info about this on the H&R website. What do they charge for this or where do I find the info

Thanks

Bobby

Welcome aboard! :D It's something you must ask for or your barrel order...most new triggers now are coming already at approx 4lbs, unlike the 5-7lb triggers previously. They will charge $20 to reduce the trigger to ~3lbs if the factory weight is already below 5lbs, if it's over 5lbs, they'll do it for free. Just add the request to adjust the trigger pull to approx 3 lbs on the accessory barrel order form. You can email them or call them to find out availability of the particular barrel you want, I would recommend you have your frame serial number handy or include it in the email inquiry as not all frames can be fitted with new barrels.

Welcome.  :D You shouldn't have any problem with fitting the .223 barrel to your frame. I'm limited because I have an older frame, and it won't handle the pressures of larger calibers, but the .223 will work.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

chunks,
They will fit the 223 to just about ANY centerfire rifle frame, even the older ones.  They will usually fit all the barrels without an asterisk near them on the accessory page.

Not to pre 1987 frames...

Thanks guys. I thought it was pretty amazing to find such a large group of folks that like these guns. I mean they are plain, simple, cheap and shoot great, who would want such a thing? :)

Right now I have a '82 model in .22 Hornet and the 25-06 I bought 2 years ago and topped off with a Leupold3x9. I lost my lease right after I bought that one, but got a new place this year and have been running some rounds through it and learning what I can and can't do with it.

Me and Zach plan on busting a few hogs in the upcoming months. I've got to see about getting him a Handi something or other for his B-day coming up.
