SUPER LIGHT 243 IS A SHOOTER

I picked it up used (but never fired) for 140 bucks threw on a bushnell trophy 3x9 for 70 bucks.
So I decided to take it to the range and see what it could do:

1st remington  100gr core lock 20 rounds average1.5" not bad
2nd federal 100 gr sierra boat tails 9 rounds 3 " YUCK!!!
3rd winchester 80 gr softpoint 9 rounds 3/8" GREAT!!!

I wish I had more time to shoot more of the winchester ammo but it was getting dark.  The trigger breaks cleanly 3.5# every pull so I left that for alone for now but might want to lighten in it in the future.
I am looking for links on how to do this and any other suggestions on how  to tweek a little more accuracy out of this little gun. If the winchester groups hold up that's better than my 700 BDL & leopold combo that I paid over a 1000 for!
I guess you can say I'm HOOKED!!!!!  Now if I can only figure out how you guys attach those smiley things :-D

Was those groups at 100 yds? If so you are one lucky rascal.  Also just click on the smily things and they will work once its on the thread. Digger  :D  :D

I have one also and I really like it.Super lite and comfortable to handle up in a tree stand.
I put a survivor buttstock on mine.I left the light small stock fore stock as is.The survivor butt stock makes you hold it tighter to your shoulder and improved my groups.
Like you I had poor results with the Federal ammunition.Winchester and Remington 100 grain loads did great.
I found that the first shot out of a clean barrel was a flyer so I always put a round thru it before I hunt with it.
I did not do the "O" ring thing on the front end.That small forestock is all right as it is and exerts no undue pressure on the barrel evidently.
My results with the rifle were all excellent.

Kensgot, Welcome to the forum, Bunch good guys here, lots good imfo.
 With 3 1/2 lb tigger pull I would not fool with it :-D  I would just live with
 it. I have shotgun frame that has a 8 lb trigger pull. take and come back.

Yes the groups were are at a hundred yards  :grin:   and i have decided to leave the trigger. I,m not sure I want to try the O ring thing does not seem like a real rock solid set up to me
