17 squirrel rifle

What is a good platform rifle to make a 17 squirrel?  I looked at the Coopers but I don't want a single shot for this particuliar gun.

Could a CZ 452 17 HRM be used, I know the bolt face would be smaller than the parent case (22 hornet).  I was hoping not to have to purchase a new 22 hornet then pull off the barrel.  I have a cz 452. 17hrm already.

It'd be cheaper to buy a 527 in .22 Hornet and rebarrel it than to make a new bolt for the rimfire, not to mention the strength of the action. You might ask Todd Kindler if he has any recommendations or cautions on getting a repeater to feed those little cases.

Would the firing pin of the 527 strike the rim of the 17?

the 17 squirrel is based on the 22 hornet case so any action already chambered in 22 hornet is your best and cheapest bet. i would seriously consider the cz 527 as you can buy just the action is you want

Forget  getting an action only, if you do find one it will cost more than than a gun, at least that has been my findings.
Another way to go would be to just get a barrel for a T/C. I`ve got Bullberry barrels in .17 AH and .17-223 that are very accurate. With the .17 AH I push a 19 grn. Calhoon bullet at 3,600 fps., and have a point blank range of abt. 290 yrds. All of that with 10.4 grn. of H-4227.
