One that got away. . .
« on: February 06, 2005, 05:26:06 PM »
I was looking through a copy of Gun Traders Guide, and ran across a gun I saw at a show about 10 years ago.  At the time I didn't know what it was, otherwise I would have bought it.  A guy was walking around with a Winchester single shot 1885 20 ga.  He wanted $200 for the gun.  It was in fair condition, and like a dumbass I passed it up!!!!  Never saw one before, and haven't seen one since.

armory414,

I have several rifles and shotguns. But, my two favorites, by far, are my Browning 1885 7mm Rem Mag and my C. Sharps 1875 Sporting. Wish I could stumble on an original Winchester Single Shot for a decent price.

I'm lining up on one of the new 1885 High Walls Winchester is offering this year.  And, then there's the 1885 Low Wall in 17 HM2!

Unless you handle and shoot an 1885, you can't really appreciate how well it works.

I think the 1885 is/was the most attractive rifle built....... period!!!

It would have just sat in the back of the safe so you saved $200 bucks.
