Hello,
I'm new to this forum and I'm really looking forward to it.  I'm also new to Muzzleloading but have a strong interest and shoot every chance I get.  I was able to get my first bull elk this year with my .54 which just fueled the quest even more.
I was curious what strap configurations (width,length, adjustability, etc)you all have on your powder horns.  I made my own horn and just used a "boot lace" size thong for the strap. Taking it into the field, I soon realized this was too thin for my likings and I'm gonna make a thicker strap.  Before I do I thought I might as here what others have done.

Welcome to Greybeard.

I use a wide leather band that narrows as it gets twards the ends.  The strap ends with a brass ring on each end.  The horn is then tied to the rings.

BUT - there were as many ways as there were people roaming the hills in the 1830's.  I have always said that if you use what was available back then and you put it together the way it things were put together back then, how much more traditional can you get?

WELCOME to this great place.  We all attempt to help each other.  Now to  your question.  I have probably a dozen powder horns.  Some have a half inch wide strap on them,including a cute little brass buckle on em.  One or two have a 2 inch strap from pillow ticking with a leather edge,and onr or  two the tapered strap like Crow_feather has.  All are comfortable,and I am sure that anything short of  steel cable will be appropriate.  Like the man said.  Lotsa people running around had a lot of differant styles.  Some just more fancy then others.........stay safe.King
