Just got an email from Fred M, here's what he had to say about a couple products...
Quote

Just a note from a motel computer. Saw some new scopes at the Vegas Shot Show the new Simmons is a real good bargain Its s called a Aetec or something like that a brand new torsion adjustment sounds good from the factory rep. It has good glass from what I could see indoors.

That new O/U by H&R is not a bad gun for the price. But I did not like the looks of that 223 new H&R Varminter with that ugly stock it is even worse than the picture and the barrel fluting is just a big joke. But I guess the idea sells but can't see much benefit.

Thanks Fred!

Tim

That stock on the New varmint 223 has to be a cheap alternative to offset the cost of fluting the barrel as far as NEF is concerned to keep cost down.....Whoever at the company thought that thing is attractive needs to hear these words....."Your Fired"!!

I also have a buddy at the Shot Show and although he liked to shoot my FrankenClassic he can afford Class 3 stuff so I doubt he was hanging around the H&R booths... :)  He should be back soon and can hardly wait to see if he has purchased a new toy.....Glad Fred gave us a report....and thanks for posting Quick...

Fred's comment about the fluting being a joke is probably representative of H&R's penny pinching attempt to improve sales, but if the fluting is shallow and is as short as the Marlin 917VSF's fluting is, don't think I'll be ordering one....I thought about ordering one even though the stock is fugly, and just restocking it, but not if the fluting is poor, too.
