Amazing to me that I posted a request for help on the Ruger Forum for instructions on how to adjust the trigger of my 770 series tang safety Ruger M77 and have had zero responses.
I conducted a search. Tons of people laud the fact that the tang safety Ruger M77's have adjustable triggers, unlike the MKII's, but yet nobody knows how to adjust them. Other posters have asked the same question, and there is either no reply, or they send the worn out link to the varmint hunters site that provides instructions on reducing the pull weight on a M77 MK II trigger.
The external allen screw that regulates the trigger spring compression does absolutely nothing. I can tighten it, or back off of it, and it still breaks at a hair over 5.5 pounds. OK, well if it's such a great asset over the Mk II, then how do I adjust it?
I've been a Remington man my whole life, and this is my first M77 tang safety. I'm desperate here guys!
