weaver eye relief
« on: February 08, 2005, 04:15:52 AM »
I'm looking at purchsing a used Weaver scope 2.5-8X28.  I did some research and Weaver states their eye relief is 12".  I'm looking at putting it on a Encore 7-08.  Does this eye relief seem a little short for larger caliber guns?

I use two of these scopes for squirrel hunting---both on t/c 22 barrels----had one on a .223 for a while----good for small game----- at 2.5x, eye relief is ok between 16-24 inches  and fov is 8.5 ft at 100yds---- at 8x eye relief is ok between 12 and 16 inches and fov is 3.7 ft at 100 yds-----on my 22.s and on a .223 they are fine-----for big game hunting I like a little more field of view. T/C, Leupold, Burris have wider fov----Burris the widest.   pg
