SPM-12 or 20 side by side. Any comments?

I see that Century Arms is now importing from China a 12 gauge side by side called the SPM-12, and also a 20 gauge version called the SPM-20.  I saw the 20 version in a gun store, and it appeared to be rock solid.  They have external hammers.   These things sell for very cheap.  Around $200 plus or minus.  They are only supposed to be used with lead shot.  Stock is fairly simple, but attractive, with cut checkering.

   Has anyone had any experience with these shotguns?  Do they pattern to point of aim etc.?  Do they function reliably?  Or, is this too much to hope for at this low price.

   It looks like the only other choice is a Baikhal of some sort.  Norinco was making side by sides for a while, but I haven't seen any lately.

I don't know about the cheap imported stuff, but with a little shopping around on the used gun racks, you should be able to find an American made Stevens 311 for about the same money. This gun will shoot where you point it, and parts are easy to get if it breaks. I have a 20 that will even put slugs from both barrels to point of aim at  50 or 60 yards, depending on brand, but this is unusual. I also had a 12 that was probably made in the 40's. I shot a few turkey with that one, and then let it go for $150 about ten years ago. I think if a guy wants an inexpensive double, these older guns are a better route than some com-bloc gamble.      If you want a Baikal, the time to find one is NOW. EAA Corp. was importing them into this country, however, Baikal has struck a deal with Remington to be the exclusive importer, under Remingtons 'Spartan' line. No more Baikals coming into this country, so you'd have to try to find one in a gunshop, or on auction if you want one.
     Incidentally, in reference to it being a 'cheap' shotgun, I own 3 Baikal over/unders, a 12, 20, & 28. VERY high quality, screw in chokes, chrome lined barrels automatic ejectors, hand checkered walnut stock, and they fit me like a glove, I wouldnt trade them for any other over/under made. Just my personal thoughts and opinions.
