remington model 760 - 243 caliber

I just bought a Remington model 760 rifle with a 243  caliber. Any comments good or bad about that model and caliber?

Great rifle and great caliber in my opinion. I've owned my 760 in 30-06 since 1980, my whitetail rifle of choice, and would never part with it. The 243 is a wonderful caliber, light enough that it doesn't punish you when you shoot it, and still enough caliber to take a deer. Just be sure to use premium 100 grain bullets such as Nosler partitions for deer, and place your shot in the boiler room, and you won't be disappointed.

Great combo. Many 760 rifles are more accurate than the shooter. Use 100 gr bullets for deer. I have a Ruger M77 .243 and I love it. My son has the 760 30-06 I bought in 1977. He bought me a 7600 7mm-08. Remington pump rifles are great for hunting.

Gentlemen I agree that it's a great little gun. I'll be trading a Win 70 Shadow tonight for a 7600 in 270. I'll have triplets before I'm done. 270, 06 and 243, because I never haver been a big bolt fan and think the 760/7600 are just as accurate. Dummy proof in the field. By that I mean you push the safety off and pump, safe and ready to go. I missed a nice bull this fall because of the mod. 70 safety. Next bull I didn't mess up, my fault but rem gives you less to think about in the field. I think you 've got a keeper and I plan to have it's twin in a couple of months.

Hey everyone, thanks for the info on my 243.  Does anyone know where I can find a magizine clip for my 243 model 760 pump.  Do they make one that holds more then four?[/b][/b]

Ten round magazines are available. Midway USA sells magazines for 760/7600 rifles.
