.44 Mag Load information????

I posted this in the cast bullet section also, but the weekends coming quickly and I've got shooting to do.  So I need some help ASAP.


"New to .44mag reloading. I've got some Meister Bullets 240gr RNFP, and have H110 powder.

These bullets have a brinnell hardness of 14-16.

Can these be treated as regular hard cast?

I was thinking Win. brass, CCI 350 primer and 21grs of H110?

What do you think? Will leading be a problem? "

H110 and W296 are the same powder. These are ball powders and the manufacturers of most all ball powders caution against loading lighter than the book recommendations.

I believe your suggested load is gonna be well under book recommendations. My standard load of either powder with a 240 grain bullet is 24.0 grains. I have gone as low as 22.5 grains when using plain base cast bullets like yours without a gas check. Personally I'd go no lower.

I have to agree w G.B.  24 gr of H110 is my best load in my S&W model 29 with 8 3/8 " barrel. shooting jacketed HPs' or FPs'.
