Which mounts for Anschutz 1712?

I just purchased a Premier Reticles Silhouette Special scope for my 1712.  It is a converted Leupold 18-40x.  I believe the scope has a 1" tube and 40mm objective.

Should I be looking at high or low mounts for this rifle/scope combo?  This gun has the McMillan hunter style synthetic stock and will be used for hunter class silhouette.  I've had luck with BKLs in the past on air rifles but am open to other suggestions you might have.

Have the same rifle, and been shooting it for about 6 months.  Not sure what would fit comfortably for you, but found that I like a taller mount (~1.5" to scope center).  Started out with BKL cantilever mount with riser block, but found zero's drifting by 2'.  Other folks that use BKL have not had this drift issue, so maybe just a fluke in my case.  Eventually made my own mount/ring combination, if your interested contact me PM about details.  

Other things I found about the rifle.  Trigger needed work, had lots of creep initially, not the usual crisp Anschutz feel.  Recently when re-installing the barreled action into the stock and torque per factory spec, it "mushed".  The barreled action is now pillar bedded.  Don't get me wrong, I really like the rifle, and once worked thru these little problems its a great little rifle.

As for ammo, found the Lapua Midas (or Master) L works pretty good.  Eley Match also works well (but has an occasional flyer).

I noticed the same thing about the trigger.  I need to put on my dry-firing pin and adjust for excess creep and weight.

I'll watch the stock screw carefully and see if anything develops.

FYI,

No need to dry firing pin in this rifle. I have asked many people (even those selling it) but all told me, do it if you must, but there is no need. I used to have a copy of the 2004 Anschutz rifle cat that stated in it they were designed for dry firing.

I almost bought one anyway!!!! :wink:
