Ithaca Rifles
« on: February 07, 2003, 04:38:31 AM »
I have an Ithaca Rifle, given to me by my dad some years ago.  It is a .243, model LSA-55 (I think).  Other numbers on it are 550-121554.

What I am looking for is someone who maybe knows anything about these guns.  I contacted Ithaca, but they didn't give me any info at all.

I would love to get my hands on a manual for it, or any data.  I am planning on using it to hunt antelope this year, but need to get the trigger adjusted.  Ithaca did give me the name of a gunsmith, but I would like to know for myself how to work on this gun.  Also would like to know the approximate worth of the gun.

Anyone out there have any suggestions on where to look, or maybe have some knowledge of these guns?

Let me know.

Thanks,
Tony

To the best of my knowledge they are Tikka's. They were imported by Ithaca for a few years in the early 70's.They came in a regular and deluxe model. Both had checkered stocks and the wundhammer swell in the pistol grip. The deluxe had more ornate wood and rosewood forend and grip caps. Both were Great! shooters and beautiful looking and handleing rifles..I know . I have two deluxe models. One in 243, the other a 22-250. They also made a varment model with a heavy bbl. and thick forend.(Not quite as pretty)
If you check the integral scope mount bases on top of the action you'll find they have different dimensions from a SAKO. The bolts appear identical though.
I believe they (Ithaca) also imported a longer model, the LSA 65, in 30-06 and 270. The few I've seen at gunshows go for $5-600.
