New Pup!!
« on: February 07, 2003, 07:28:33 AM »
Well guys I took the plunge!! Went to Vernal Utah( about 130 mi NW) yesterday and picked up an 8 week old lab. I'm a little drowsy this morning, first night away from mama whines. He's a big chocolate pup- dad goes about 110lbs and points quite well !!! When I can figure out how I'll post a picture.
On the way back to Grand Junction last evening we saw- 2 bald eagles, 30-40 antelope, a dozen mulies, and a herd of close to 200 elk!! I love the Rocky Mountain states!!!!!!!

:-) Good luck with your new pup. We're all rooting for you. Enjoy that puppy. We can give you tips later if you need them. The more time you spend with them the better they get.

Labs rule!  Congradulations on your new pup. Labs may not be the best at any one thing, but they are second best at everything.

My Lab stays in the house too. She sleeps on the floor by the bed where she started out.  We have a doggy door so she can run in or out to the kennel as she pleases.

I always used a hot water bottle (warm) and a hand wind clock wrapped up in a towel for a new pup. The warm water bottle reminds them of mama and the ticking clock puts them to sleep.

Don't let the chewing stuff up wear you down. It is going to happen.  It'll stop after about a year. Chew toys help. Some of my stuff have chew marks from pups that have turned old and now gone.  I could have killed them at the time, but seeing those chew marks now kinda brings a tear to my eye.
