Remington 597 goes for a swim while checking traps
« on: February 15, 2005, 05:28:30 PM »
Well...I guess Fishman and I have something in common. We both like to take our rifles swimming :-D

Today while checking my trap...I kinda fell and let my rifle roll over the hill into a little spring(I was right behind it but didn't make it to the spring).

Ok...I'll tell ya how it happens. I was walking over the rockey hill where one of my traps is. At the bottom of this rockey hill is a fair sized spring. Well...The rocks were kinda slick(one was really sharp) and I fell( and rolled). In the minst of the fall my rifle(some how) ended up rolling into the spring. Good thing the water was only about a foot deep

I think that is the worst part. :?  But it almost ties with the 14 stitches in my arm and the sprained anckle :x  The stitches are about midways down my forearm on the under side. I was not aware, but there was a very sharp rock that my arm kinda landed on.

HERE COMES THE BEST PART

I took the rifle apart and dried and reoiled everything. The scope was shot. But there is no worry there...My loving girl friend overheard me tell one of my buddies about a tasco 3-9xi40 scope I wanted to put on my .22(before it went swimming). So she got together with him and bought me the scope for valentines day

Well thats the end of that "story" :D
DEER SEASON IS OVER, BUT THERE IS STILL RABBIT, SQUIRREL AND SPRING GOBBLER.  :biggun:
