The bullet I used was a Lee 170 gr FP. I patched with cigarette papers. Normally, when patching my 45-70, I cut the paper in a parallelagram, such that I get two wraps that slightly underlap. With the 30-30 bullet, I cut Zig-Zag papers along the fold, getting two patches/paper. I simply moistened the patch and wound the paper around the bullet until I ran out of paper. Final product was right at 0.312". After drying, I lubed the patches with Lyman Super Moly. The batch I'm taking to the range was Aloxed.
When I shot the last batch, I was missing the 50 yard target to the left. I cold see the impact on the berm at 100 yards and they were erratic. Some high, some low, but all left.
If this next batch doesn't fly right, my next try will be with a thicker paper if I don't think of anything else to try.
