How does the 700 LVSF shoot for you? In the .204 caliber? Am considering one and wanted to see if anyone is happy with the way theirs performs.

cant speak for the .204, but i bought a Light Varmint in .223 a couple of months back. After adjusting the trigger a bit, i will have to say it is about the most accurate .22 centerfire i have bought, with the exception of my Cooper .22 PPC; i have probably had 10 or so varmint-caliber rifles in the last 10 years, and that Remington will flat shoot...getting about .3 - .4 pretty much all the time with several different loads.

However, i paid twice as much for the Cooper, and PPC brass costs 10 times more than .223s, all to get what might be a tenth of an inch advantage over the Remington.

If i had to have only 1 varmint rig it would definitely be my Light Varmint.

I have one in .223 too and love the feel of the gun so much I just won a new on in 308 from the limited edition run they made to have a lighter weight walk around hunting rifle too. I am hopeful the new one shoots like the varmint calibers. I think its one of the most beautifully balanced sticks going.

I was looking at the LVSF for my new 223 purchase. After hearing so much about the Savages, I was thinking about getting a 16FSS instead of the LVSF. If you had it to do over again, would you consider saving $$$ and buying a Savage or would you stick with the LVSF?

not a chance. it would take about 10 savages to get my LVSF out of my hands. mine shoots twice as good as my POS 10fp did. do it right once and be finished.

I just picked up my LVSF in 22-250 today. There is a $50 rebate direct from Remington on their varmint rifles. It makes a good rifle a bit more affordable. If you search a bit, there are some good buys out there on these rifles.

why bother and hope the savage is good when you know the 700's are the standard.

Ditto on what the other guys said... you're better off to pay a bit more and get a perfect gun than saving a few bucks on one that is "almost" what you want. the new Savage set trigger does feel good...but no better to me than a properly adjusted Rem 700 trigger does, which you can do yourself in 10 minutes. Remington has a winner here with the Light Varmint, i have yet to here a bad word about one in any caliber.

Guns4570... i am drooling over your LVSF .308... keep it oiled so it dont rust ..

fyrepowrx, yeah I am really looking forward to it getting to the FFL for pickup. I have one thought......there is one more caliber Remington needs to add to this rifle and make it a permanent one available to all of us. 6.8 SPC would be an ideal walk around deer/antelope gun and would make a not bad mountain rifle for sheep/goat too. Hmm...I think I am calling Remington and dropping the idea. The only thing I would love to is a 17 HM2 rimfire in the same rifle like they make the .22 LR in the 40X. Ok thats my dream list. Anyone want to help and hammer Remington on two just too cool to believe rifles......My way of staying true to Remington and not wanting a Kimber in 17 Mach 2.

Now I can have a shoot out for my affection and attention. LVSF in 308 vs. two 700 5-R Mil Specs in 308. Who will win....only their hairdresser knows for sure. My money is on the LVSF.......LOL.

I am looking very hard at a LV SF in .223 for calling predators and varmints and one in 7mm-08 for deer hunting. Bummer the rebate is only good for one purchase but still 50.00 worth of ammo

Anyone sure of who is making the stock? B&C maybe ?

I have a buddy that I hunt with that has one in the 204. It shoots great. I was impressed with the accuracy from its shorter barrel. He gets about .4 inch groups with his. This is good, but it doesn't outshoot my 700 vls with the heavy 26" barrel. My groups are usually .1 or .2 inches smaller than his. However I like the wieght of his a lot better. It is 3 lbs lighter and is a great carry/calling gun. buy it and you will love it. In my opinion the savage doesn't compare, and it would take a lot more than 10 savages to replace my remington.

I WILL BE GETTING ONE!!,

I had the Savage and was less than impressed with it. Groups were great but the safety location really stinks it up! The bolt rubs on top of the safe when cycled, not to mention when at arms, it is just plain difficult to manipulate the safe, especially in cold weather wearing gloves.

Just have to decide on caliber. I would be using it for coyotes and fox, so do I go with the .223,.204,.221FB,.22-250, or swift? I am liking the .204 and would like some input on the performance of the 40 grainers? If anyone has shot them, I'm listenin.

The 40's shoot great in some guns, and worse in others. It will just depend on your gun. In mine, the 32's shot better. If they shoot good for you, I would stick with the 40"s for coyote hunting. I now reload all my 204's with the 39 gr. sierra blitzkings- they shoot great.

The LVSF showed up in 308 I mentioned above....OMG....now this is what a walk around deer rifle should be like. Remington needs to make this a permanent addition to the LVSF line. I will try to get her shot soon and report back. Right now she is wearing a 4-12 scope in matte Warne rings and bases.

I'm leaning toward a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40mm with mildot reticle. What do you think?

I'll just have to stop the coyotes a little further out than I currently do. Should be a good scope. ?

I have never found any faults with my Nikons, my LVSF is currently wearing a Bausch & Lomb 4-16, i think pretty much any good scope with a top end magnfification of 12 to 16 power is perfect..

I tried a 8.5-25 Leupold on mine at first, but this was a bit too much scope for a walk around gun, so i went with the 4-16 & have been happy since. MIne does not have the mil-dot reticle...but i wish it did!

I once had a Bausch and Lomb 6x24x40mm mounted on my Sendero SF in .25-06. Sold it and went to an Aetec 3.8x12x44mm, ust seemed better for deer hutn. Up here I can't see that far from my stand so as my choice. Still, I miss that riflescope alot!!

my LVSF 223 weres a leupold 3-9x40 tactical. it looks, fit and act the part on there. i wouldnt go with a large scope as it is not needed. if it was my rifle the largest i would go id the nikon 4.5-14x40, got a 3.3-10x44 and it is sweet but a little big for the LVSF.

did i mention that it is my favorite rifle that i own or even shot.

hi guys i am new to this forum i was on 24 hour campfire for a while but a friend told me about GBO so i thought i would give it a try. anyways my 2 cents on this gun are that i could not be happier with mine. it is in 7mm-08 i have a 3x9 leup vxII on it in warne rings. my pet load for it is 140gr nosler accubond infront of 40.5 grains of rel15. groups hover at just over1\2 inch. needless to say that this will be my deer rifle this year.
